Proudly a Zero Waste festival, ecofest is powered entirely by volunteers and supported by a not-for-profit community organisation. This unique spirit of collaboration makes Ecofest more than just an event—it’s a movement toward a greener future. We look forward to welcoming you in 2026 to share in this unforgettable experience.
A Zero Waste festival thanks to our Waste NOT Hub
Welcome to our "Waste NOT Hub"! Ecofest is excited to be a zero-waste festival since 2025. Our food vendors are generously using reusable plates and bowls that are washed and re-used throughout the festival. All food scraps are composted, bamboo and wooden cutlery serve as seedling labels for community gardens, and all drink bottles and cans are recycled. Making Dishes NOT Waste!
This initiative is proudly supported by the Central Council and the North West Environment Centre.

Ecofest went two days AND zero waste in 2025

Ecofest 2025 was a huge success, marking a milestone in our community's eco-journey. For the first time, ecofest became a two-day festival, a change driven by the overwhelming enthusiasm and support from our community. The expanded format gave everyone more time to explore the incredible range of exhibitors, presenters, workshops, and delicious local food, while enjoying the vibrant sounds of our talented performers in a more relaxed and engaging atmosphere.
2025 was also the year that ecofest proudly became a zero-waste festival, with the launch of our Waste Not Hub. This initiative set a new standard for sustainability at the event and was embraced wholeheartedly by our festival-goers.
Ecofest 2025 wasn’t just bigger—it was better, greener, and more inspiring than ever before. Together, we created two unforgettable days of ecofest magic that will be remembered as the beginning of a new chapter for the festival.

Our Theme for 2026
In 2026, we're calling on exhibitors, presenters, musicians, foodies, and festival-goers to join our "Many hands makes a lighter planet" campaign. We aim to show the community that we really can make a difference if we all join together and help our planet as a team.
Follow us on social media as we share ideas and showcase numerous "Many hands makes a lighter planet" leading up to the festival.

Electric Vehicle Test-Drives
The Tasmanian branch of the Australian Electric Vehicle Association returned to North West ecofest with their Electrikhana roadshow, providing a short test-drive or ride in a range of electric vehicles (EVs) on site at the festival. The opportunity to experience the ride and chat with passionate EV owners was invaluable for those considering owning an EV in the future.
North West ecofest Tasmania is an annual sustainable living festival held in Ulverstone in North West Tasmania. ecofest attracts festival goers from across the State.
